Solved it. The (bootleg?) CSS in the <style> tag from your AppBar example was the problem.

Great that you have found a solution, Doug! Can you, please, share a bit more details about the mentioned problem so we can log it in case it is a bug? Did you find any global Appbar style affecting the DropDowns as well, or are you using your custom ones? It will be great if you can share a sample where we can reproduce the problem and proceed further. Thank you in advance for your cooperation!
