Hi

I don't see anything in the release notes for v. 2011.1.315 about an updated docking system that fixes the many performance issues that so many of us are facing? Has this not been fixed?

Hi Tom,

Unfortunately we were unable to fix all outstanding issues in RadDocking for Q1 2011 since there were too many changes in the control that could potentially break many client applications. We believe it is not a good idea to release a major change in a widely used control without first releasing a few beta versions.

In the next few weeks my team will be focused on adding minor functionality and polishing RadScheduleView for SP1, then we will continue our work on the changes in RadDocking and RadWindow. We are aiming at relasing an early beta version in the beginning of May and most probably one more beta version in June. This schedule will allow us to gather your feedback and fix all potential issues and then release a stable control with Q2 2011 in July.

This makes me sad. It also makes me look very bad internally for recommending we go with Telerik controls. I suppose I should have done more forum research to discover the amount of issues the top-level docking window causes.

I have to question Telerik's commitment to its paying customers if schedule view polish and minor fixes take priority over the significant issues we've reported with docking.

Are there ANY improvements to RadDocking in Q1'11?

John

RadDocking got a few minor bug fixes for Q1 2011. The rest of the changes that affect the Windows XP problem were not included in the control. What I am trying to say is that we are working on the problem, the changes in the control are a lot, and we really don't want to release something that is half-baked.

For now I've switched to using AvalonDock, but will keep an eye on the Telerik RadDocking, hopefully at some point it will be brought up to a usable standard.

The fact that this is not resolved is simply not acceptable.  What is the progress on this matter.  I have also noticed another issue with the Rad Ribbon Bar and multiple monitors which I just posted a bug report on.  What gives?
Thanks

Hi Pete,

We have an early beta build in the following forum thread that fixes the Windows XP problems:
