Hi,

Our company has been using Telerik Reporting Q2 2014 to generate PDFs for our web app. We're undergoing a migration from an Azure VM to an Azure Web Apps set-up. Unfortunately Azure Web Apps does not have Garamond installed, so we've been considering upgrading to Telerik R3 2016 SP1 to use the privateFonts feature.

In my local testing when Garamond is installed and used natively (our current situation), the alignment of header text in tables is different to when it is used via privateFonts. I've prepared a Minimal Example (at my non-corporate github: https://github.com/Blimply/PrivateFontsMWE/tree/master) and attached a comparison screenshot of two example PDFs.

Reproduction steps:
 - Generate a PDF document using an installed font
 - Uninstall the font and logout/login
 - Generate a PDF document in the same font using the privateFonts feature

I know it looks reasonably small in the provided shots but it's quite noticeable in many of our business documents. We've got a lot of documents so it'd be a pain to realign them all manually.

Any help would be appreciated!

Hello David,

Thank you for reporting the issue. Your Telerik points are updated.
It is logged in our system for further investigation.

Until there is a fix, test adding Style.Padding or set the TextAlign to Center for TextBox items to avoid having text out of boxes.

Regards,
Stef

Hi Stef,

Thanks for your response. In our production documents the problem is the misalignment rather than out-of-box text - most of our text is already centered. Attached is another screenshot of a test document showing the different alignment (with TextAlign as Center). It's not a major issue but it can make some of our documents look a little imperfect.

Hopefully a fix is possible - we'll keep an eye out.

Thanks!

Hi David,

It must be an issue with reading styles or the image rendering in general. The suggested text aligning is just to reduce the effect of the misplacement.
We are expecting R1 2017 release by January 18th, and then newly logged tasks will be taken into consideration.

Thank you for your understanding.

Stef

Hello David,

Please check the updated privateFonts Element article.
"Related known issue with the Windows Platform:

If you order the fonts in the PrivateFontCollection first regular then bold the GDI+ measure string size for bold font style is incorrect. This is observed in Windows 8.1 and newer and may lead to unexpected rendering and aligning issues. For more information see: The Connect Item"

The Connect item is logged by our developer who investigated the problem and Microsoft confirm the issue. Please follow the item for more information on its progress.
