DatePicker not working in a menu

I placed a date picker inside of a kendo menu. The date picker shows up but it's missing the calendar button.

I had the same issue when creating the datepicker before the menu. If you reverse it and create the menu before the datepicker then it will display properly:

            $("#menu").kendoMenu();
            $("#datepicker").kendoDatePicker();
