Are there plans to support DataFrame as DataSource in your controls?

eg. to bind the DataGrid's ItemsSource with a DataFrame

Hello Rand,

Thank you for your inquiry.

We do not currently have plans for introducing support for the DataFrame type, mostly because it is in a preview phase. If this feature gets fully supported and the demand for such integration with our controls is high, we will consider its implementation.

I hope you find this information satisfactory. Do let me know if any further questions or concerns arise.

Sadly your response is very generic one and DataFrame could be exchanged with any other term.

I hoped to get a more direct answer, maybe even a developers input, if he/she thinks that this is something to look out for no matter the user requests.

So, if possible I would kindly ask for a more relatable answer to the question.

What are the thoughts of Telerik and/or Telerik developer’s about this topic?

Why or why not should Telerik try to adapt this technology?

Is it worth to early adapt it?

Does Telerik want to be associated with a tool of MS that promises to handle big data?

Will Teleriks control ever support big data (terabytes/petabytes)? eg. if I would read a csv file with 1 terabyte of data with this dataframe and bind said dataframe to Telerik‘s datagrid

Hope to see a more in depth answer.

Just to be clear, please don’t only answer the questions I have mentioned, if possible I would love to see a response where I can see that you have given it a serious thought and basically share your, and/or your company‘s and/or your developer‘s thought.

A well thought in-depth answer.

Hello,

I am sorry to hear you did not find my answer specific enough. I did discuss this with our development team and we came to the conclusion that the integration of this type depends on the adoption of the technology as well as the needs of our clients. So we will be keeping an eye on how it develops.

We appreciate sharing your use case in this regard, where you would like to read 1TB CSV file and load it in the control. This will be useful for future consideration. What I can suggest, however, would be to introduce an intermediate data layer between the controls and the data. As this depends on the overall application structure, though, please share anything else you would like to expand on with regards to your specific use case.

Should you find a need to discuss your precise requirements, please open a support ticket and we can arrange a conversation.
