Hello,

I was wondering if it was possible to customize the visualization of RadTimeline duration items over and above what the TimelineItemTemplate offers.  Would it be possible to create an item visualization that, for instance, organized different data items into specific rows along the timeline?   Also would it be possible to create a visualation that drew a vertical line from the bottom of the timeline control up to the beginning of each duration item as a reference?

Regards,

cm

Hello,

It is possible to change the TimeLineItems visualization above the TimelineItemTemplate. You can achieve this by using ItemTemplateSelector. Please, take a look at our online demo example here demonstrating how to use Custom ItemTemplate.

You can also check our help topic about customizing TimeLine items:

Hello Colin,

The online demo example provided earlier is for Silverlight, but the idea is the same. You may also find a WPF version of this example here:
http://demos.telerik.com/wpf/
just browse to TimeLIne >> Custom ItemTemplate.

And here is a link to our WPF help topic:
http://www.telerik.com/help/wpf/radtimeline-customizing-items.html

Hope this helps.

Thank you for your responses.  I have already explored the use of the TimelineTemplateSelector, and maybe its my wpf templating skills getting in the way, but I haven't figured out a way to modify the timeline visualization organizationally.  I am looking to change things like organizing the time points at the bottom of the timeline rather than the top, having a time point visualization stretch from the bottom of the timeline control to the top, and organize specific data points into horizontal swim lanes.

Hello,

In case I understand you correctly, you are looking for a way to specify a custom vertical ordering of the event items in the timeline control. Please, correct me if I am wrong. Basically, this is not possible with the current version of the control and we do not plan to implement a way for the developers to specify the concrete position of every event item. We are considering, however, implementing some kind of grouping of event items in rows. Will such feature work for you?

Regarding the bottom-to-top ordering, we have not discussed to allow for such customization of the look of the timeline. Basically, our idea was that the event items should be as close to the timeline as possible. Could you please elaborate a bit on your scenario and why you prefer bottom-to-top ordering?
