Hi Paul,

Do you get this error when running the Telerik Reporting installer (msi) or the Common Telerik installer (exe)?
If the latter, download the msi from your Telerik account and try installing it instead. You need to make sure the account that runs the Reporting installer has administrative rights to the database server you've selected. The Reporting installation asks for a database server as it installs the AdventureWorks database needed for the demo reports.

Note: the installation of the AdventureWorks database can only be performed on a LOCAL database server and you cannot use REMOTE database server for this purpose. Also as noted in the System requirements page, it requires SQLExpress/SQL Server 2005 or above.

Kind regards,

This is the package that I ran .....

Telerik_Reporting_Trial_Installer_Q1_2012_v6_0_12_215

Size of the package was 3621 KB

I am using Visual Studio 11 Beta with SQL Server 2008 R2

I guess SQL Server version is the problem.

Hello Paul,

It is not the SQL Server version as we support SQLExpress/SQL Server 2005 or above. As suggested in our previous post, download the msi from your Telerik account and install the product from there. If you're still having problems with the installation, please elaborate on the steps you take. It would help greatly if you run Telerik Reporting installer from command prompt with logging information enabled:

msiexec /i path_to\Telerik_Reporting_Q1_2012_DEV.msi -l*xv install.log

and provide us with link to the log file.

Kind regards,
Steve
