Active Reports had a winform tool that people could use to build reports outside of VS.net.  This would allow people other than developers to create reports.  These reports could be saved in their xml format (.rpx I think), which could be loaded up at runtime, bound, ran, then exported as PDF, etc.  Does Telerik plan to support this type of scenario in the future?  If so, would there be a winform or wpf report designer app for this?  I am not very familiar with Telerik Reporting so far, but did not find anything like this on your site or documentation.

Hi Michael,

Thank you for your interest in our product.

Indeed, having an end user report designer is a great idea and it is part of our future plans.
However, I cannot provide you with the exact version in which we will add this feature, but we will do our best to be implemented in the near future.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any other ideas that might help us improve the product and its functionality.

Kind regards,
Steve

Hello,

You (Telerik) told this 1 year ago, near future is Q2.

So are you working on it to be out for Q2 ? yes or no ? because I will not wait for another year !

I got an old version of Active Reports Pro (3 years old) and it was already possible to use an external editor.

I think 1 year is enough to know about a release date. In developer's time 1 year is forever.

Hello YodaKIRI,

Here is a quote from your "End User designer" ticket from June last year:

"As soon as we can give a time frame or specific Q when this would be implemented, it will appear in the product road map."

and indeed this is the only answer we can currently give. We have never made a promise for specific Q/timeframe and if we have mentioned something in some thread, it would have been rough estimates. However we operate in dynamic environment and priorities change all the time. This is not a simple feature that we can consider for implementation and deliver seamlessly in a single Q, especially not if we want to deliver it with the Telerik quality you're used to.

Thank you for the understanding.

Greetings,
Steve
