Is there a way to Copy/Paste from the ASPX ReportViewer and keep its formatting

Since all the textboxes render to absolute positioned DIV tags, none of position is retained when pasting into a word document.

I realized the solution is to export directly to word and copy from there, but we have clients that love copy/paste from the print preview and I want to ensure we covered every possible solution before we force them to change their preferred workflow.

Our other solution is to forgo the ReportViewer and directly export to word that will act as their print preview.

Hi Steven,

Your observations are correct and there is nothing we can do to change this behavior. Copying data from the browser and pasting it in documents is a bad practice anyway, so if Word is the document of choice for your clients, you can create an obtrusive "Export to Word" button right next to the viewer, so you can't miss it.

Steven; what you are asking for use to work from the Report Viewer.  I know because it worked for our reports until I upgraded to the latest Reporting component.  The version is: 5.1.11.713

I'm seeing a lot of issues in the current version: 7.1.13.612

I have an old site posting in fact of this still where it works.  I copies your formatting and spacing into clip board.

The proposed solution to export to Word (RTF) doesn't work for us.  There seems to be a bug with sub report headings when exporting to RTF (by the viewer or by code).  All my heading text is missing even if I put in both the page header and report header.  These same headings show in the view and when exported to PDF, but RTF drops them completely.  All I get is the background colour, but no text is showing.

If I move the sub report into a table only the headings show without any data (useless).

Next I have to move the table to the main report and use here.  Then it properly exports to RTF, but this is a tremendous break for us to have to change over to support RTF.

For us reporting is going backwards...with every update we experience breaks in functionality which has become frustrating & time consuming.  I shouldn't have to fundamentally have to change all my reports every time I update the control.

Earlier I reported shape object having an issue in RTF export that caused an exception error until changed to TextBoxes with boarders.

Hello Mike,

The copy/paste practice from the browser is not recommended, so please use the provided export options.

We have tested the described by you issues, and they are not reproducible with the latest available internal build of Telerik Reporting. You can find attached a sample report definition illustrating our tests. Notice sub report's page sections are not rendered in the master report as explained in the SubReport help article. Additional information about exporting in RTF format can be found in the Design Considerations for RTF Rendering help article.

If you need further help, please open a support ticket and send us a runnable sample project and details about the issues you experience.

Regards,
Stef
