It appears that an animation bug has been introduced in 2019 SP1 of kendo ui jquery.
With the latest version, the animation for a context menu does not appear on the first call of .open()
Subsequent calls to .open() render the correct animation.
Dojo #1 shows the animation working first click

After investigating the described behavior I can confirm that this is related to a bug in the Kendo UI ContextMenu functionality. I have logged this as a bug in the official Kendo UI GitHub repository with a very high priority. You can start tracking the progress that we make on it from item #4887.
