Hi all,

I have some questions regarding the commercial license of Kendo.

1) The term of one year subscription is used, what does this actually mean? Can I continue to develop after the subscription has lapsed, on either existing or new products? Can I continue sell my product after the subscription has passed?

2) If I purchase a Kendo subscription, will it cover access to mobile components, given that it is being released during the subscription period?

3) If I purchase a Kendo subscription, is there any restriction on the license I can release my projects under?

Many thanks,
Mark

Hello Mark,

Thank you for your questions! Let me address them one by one:

1) Within the 1-year subscription term you will receive free upgrades to the latest version of Kendo UI and will be able to download the newest upgrades and fixes. You will also have priority technical support as long as your subscription is active. When the subscription expires, you will no longer be eligible to download any newer versions of Kendo UI and you will not have access to post tickets to our technicians. However, your license

2) Kendo UI Mobile is still in beta and it is not finally decided how it will be licensed for the customers who have purchased Kendo UI Web before that. In case there is no information stated on the Kendo UI website, when Kendo UI Mobile is released, you can contact sales@kendoui.com for more information about any special offers.

3) If you purchase a Kendo UI Commercial license, you will not need to comply with the GPLv3 license.

As stated in our license agreement:
"You are not permitted to distribute the Kendo UI:  in any format other than in object form; as a standalone product; or as a part of any product other than Your Integrated Product.  Your end-user license agreement must: impose the limitations set forth in this paragraph on Your end-users; prohibit distribution of the Software by your end-users; limit the liability of Your licensors or suppliers to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law; and prohibit any attempt to disassemble, decompile or “unlock”, decode or otherwise reverse translate or engineer, or attempt in any manner to reconstruct or discover any source code or underlying algorithms of the Software. "

For more details you can check the Redistribution section in the Kendo UI License Agreement.

All the best,
Emilia

Hi Emilia,

Your answer to question one seem truncated. It ends with "However, your license "

Thanks,

Hi Mark,

Please excuse me, it seems that I have accidentally deleted a part of the sentence. Here is the full answer of question 1 again:

1) Within the 1-year subscription term you will receive free upgrades to the latest version of Kendo UI and will be able to download the newest upgrades and fixes. You will also have priority technical support as long as your subscription is active. When the subscription expires, you will no longer be eligible to download any newer versions of Kendo UI and you will not have access to post tickets to our technicians. However, your license will still be active and you will be able to use it for commercial purposes for your existing or new projects.

Kind regards,

Emilia
