I was attempting to run the demo WPF control’s (namely the gridview) and I’m getting the errors below the dashed line.

I have .Net 3.5 installed on my machine, IE 7.0, and I'm running Vista Enterprise on my machine. I'm guessing this is a Code Access Security problem with how our security policies are set, but I'm no CAS guru. I'm just looking for some insight/suggestions I can offer up to my desktop support team.

Any insight on how I can get these running?

Thanks,
Byron

Hi Byron,

We are sorry to hear that you experience any problems with our controls.

The demo application works as expected with IE7 at our side. Could you please provide us with more details on how to reproduce the issue? Does the error appear  when you click on a particular example? If so, could you tell us which is the example?

This will help us to understand the problem better and provide you with more specific instructions.  Meanwhile I suggest you install the examples locally and let us know how this goes.

Also this may be because of stale XBAP cache. Try running "mage -cc" from the Visual Studio 2008 command prompt  and restart your browser and load the app URL again.  Let us know if that fixes the problem.

Rats,,,,,I had typed a response but didn't get it sent before my session expired, when I went back to the page, my response was gone....

The issue appears to me to be a Code Access Security problem more than anything.

I can't run any network located XBAP's. If you look in the trace below it is failing on a demand:

The action that failed was:

Demand

The type of the first permission that failed was:

System.Security.Permissions.UIPermission

The first permission that failed was:

<IPermission class="System.Security.Permissions.UIPermission, mscorlib, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089"

version="1"

Window="AllWindows"/>

I can go to the demo page and select the control I want to see the demo for, but as soon as the page tries to load the .xbap, it fails with the message I posted.

I seem to only be able to run browser based XBAP's inside of Visual Studio in debug mode, which as I understand bypasses Code Access Security. So, my guess is a security policy is causing me to fail, but I'm trying to understand exactly how to approach my desktop team to solve this. I've posed a general question to them, but I don't really have good suggestions at this point.

Thanks,
Byron

Hi Byron,

We have reviewed the stack trace of the error one more time. We noticed that it shows that the site is placed under the My Computer security zone. In this case I suggest you add http://demos.telerik.com to trusted sites .

Also you can try setting the "My_Computer_Zone" node in .NET configuration tool as "full trust" to see if it works (you need administrator privilege on the machine to assign the permission). However, we do not recommend that because of the security implications this will have. We suggest going with adding the page to your trusted websites
