Hello,

We're using reporting on a website and we periodically need to run administrative reports that take 2-5 minutes to run and are fairly heavy hitting on the server.

I'm wondering what the best way is to do that... Should I run them in another thread and save them to the server? If so, any examples of how to do that? Is there some other preferred method?

Thanks,

Mike

Hi Mike,

Generally we have made some major performance improvements for Q1 2014. Thus we highly recommend to give it a try when its official later this month.

Still the report processing is intensive process and if possible we highly recommend to use a separate server for the reporting engine/service. This way the report processing will not hit the performance of your website.

Additionally you may find useful the Performance Considerations help article.

Peter
