Hello,

I´m designing various letters in different reports and each must contain the same Header (e.g. a merchant logo or address).
Since it´s not possible to put a subreport in the "PageHeaderSection" i´m wondering how to solve this.

Edit: I´ve read the other posts about inheriting from a BaseReport. But the samples don´t work since they´re from an older version. Can someone provide a new sample please.

Hi CHRISTIAN,

You can create a base report with the header company info and inherit all reports from it. See Generic Report, but Customized forum thread for more info. One limitation with this is that the designer of the reports that inherit might not show correctly, so we highly recommend creating the desired reports first and once done change the inheritance to the base class.

Hi Manuel,

If the "issue" you refer to is not being able to add SubReport to page section, then the answer would be no. Having a Data Item in page section does not make sense in the context of Telerik Report, because:
  • page sections are processed after the report data has been processed.
  • page sections cannot grow i.e. if your SubReport grows more than the size of the page section, it would be cut off.
  • as report data source is not available at the time page sections are processed, you cannot filter the SubReport based on the report (main) data source.

All these limitations, make the SubReport unusable for its original purpose and the correct way to proceed has been explained in my previous post.

Kind regards,
Steve
