Hello everyone,

is there any possibility to automatically sort the parameters in the report explorer? I know you can sort manually if you use the 'edit parameter' function but i would need an automatic way.

Hi Alexander,

The parameters in the Report Explorer appear in the order they have been added to the report definition. They cannot be sorted.

We haven't received such a requirement so far. Can you elaborate on the scenario that requires such parameter sorting in the designer?

Hello Todor,

in some reports we use ~ 100 parameters. There are different developers working on one document over a greater period of time - if a customer makes a request the developer opens the designer (usually knows the parameter name or the first part as we use naming conventions for them) and is know looking where in the parameter list it might be. And that takes time -individual sorting does not really help as different customer requests would need different sortings. So basically with an alphabetic order we would be able to find the parameters faster .

Btw.: Is there a way to locate where (in which textbox or htmlbox) a parameter is used in the report? As the boxes are sometimes not as big as the expressions and sometimes the developer doesn´t know where the parameter has been placed in the report->checking every possible box is very time consuming.

Hi Alexander,

Thank you for the clarification. Unfortunately, parameters cannot be sorted. You may log a feature request for the requirement in our public feedback portal.

Regarding the search in the report, you may save it as a TRDX file that is an XML and open it in a text editor. There you will be able to search the entire XML and locate in which items the parameter is used. Then in the Report Explorer of the designer, you may find the corresponding items.

Alternatively, you may unzip the TRDP report as it is a zipped TRDX file and perform the same search in a text editor of the definition.xml file from the package.
