Hi,

My mentor wants me to set pre configured data sources on every report so the users who are manipulating it don't need to add the same data sources everytime.

Furthermore, I would need to disable the data sources buttons as well but I already found workarounds for it here. On the other hand I am wondering if there is a better solution since at the bottom of the post there is a text which says:

Note that experienced users can look through the raw HTML and find the hidden DIV tag. But until the Web Designer gets the added features of customizing the UI, this is the closest solution.

Thanks a lot in advance.

UPDATE: actual post title:

Add preconfigured data sources and hide data source buttons

sorry for inconvenience

Hello David,

Indeed, the currently available approach for hiding the data source components is through CSS rules as explained in the How to Hide the Option for Adding a New SQL Connection in the SQL DataSource Wizard in Web Report Desgner KB article. We plan to provide built-in options for hiding certain options and modifying the web designer UI in general. I suggest voting for the Make Web Report Designer UI customizable.

For the predefined data sources, this functionality is on our roadmap for the year 2022 - Telerik Reporting Roadmap. Currently, we would probably recommend that you create a single "base" report that only has the pre-configured SQL Data Source added to the Report. The end-user can then use that pre-configured blank report, to design their report.
