The report viewer works fine on the test site that doesn't use any kind of authentication. once i add form authentication the report viewer stops functioning properly.
From the following thread  I understand that form authentication interferes with the report viewer http handler streaming.
I tried adding the <location> solution mentioned on that thread to no avail.

How can overcome this issue, and prevent the form authentication from interfering with the report viewer?

Thank you,
Ghayth

Hello Ghayth,

The proposed solution in the referenced forum thread is correct and the only thing you need to make sure when using forms authentication. This information is available in the 'ReportViewer' is undefined javascript error KB article and even today we had a customer confirm it is working in this thread.
Please use web debugging proxy like Fiddler to observe the response from the server and identify what interferes with the viewer in your case.

Best wishes,
Steve
