We're having quite a few problems with the Telerik reporting tools. Perhaps these issues are all just something we're doing wrong (and frankly we'd be happy if they were), but we're starting to believe that it's really a series of bugs in the product. This one we refer to internally as "Extra Pages".

Extra Pages
Some of our reports generate (seemingly) random extra pages. For whatever reason we have some reports that will generate an extra page even if the previous page has only one or two items in the detail section. However, this problem *might* have been solved after we upgraded to the Q3 2012 release.

We're continuing to test, but before we waste too much time here can anyone confirm or deny that an issue related to extra pages was addressed in the latest release?

Hi Greg,

Having extra pages in your report can be caused by many things and in almost all cases it is a design issue and not a bug (since blank pages may be a desired layout, for example when you need to separate things on chapters or other logica. The best way to find out would be to set a background color of your groups, items, panels, tables, etc. Once you do that and preview the report you will be able to actually see which item is causing the extra pages.

Also please have in mind that if your table for example is too wide to fit on the page it will cause a horizontal overflow and will continue on the next one. However whenever this happens if there is additional content below the table a blank page for each additional page (needed by the table) will be generated. To understand this better consider the following example:
page 1 (first part of table)   page 2  (second part)   page 3 (third part)
page 4 (another content here)    page 5 (empty) page 6 (empty)

The solution here is to avoid horizontal overflow since it will cause undesired effects.

Additionally since we are not aware of your current scenario and layout it would be best if you still experience difficulties to send as a runnable sample so that we are able to reproduce the issue at our end - this will help us identify the culprit faster and advise you more accordingly.

Kind regards,
IvanY
