Major Features and Updates

For a complete list of the features and updates in this release, see AppBuilder Documentation: AppBuilder 3.3 Release Notes.

This release of AppBuilder introduces the following major feature across the AppBuilder clients:

Feature In-Browser Client Windows Client Extension for Visual Studio Command-Line Interface
Hybrid Development Develop apps for Apple Watch OS 2
Improved QR codes and download URLs for all builds*
NativeScript Development Develop apps with NativeScript 2.0.0 (Verified)**
Migrate from deprecated, obsolete and removed NativeScript versions to the currently supported framework versions
Improved QR codes and download URLs for all builds*
Improved retrieval of information for the available NativeScript plugins in the Manage Packages wizard
Improved build times

* AppBuilder now produces the QR codes and the download URLs to your built content per build. Your shared QR codes or URLs provide access to a selected built content but have a limited life.

** If your project already targets NativeScript 2.0.0, you might want to migrate your app to an earlier version and back again to NativeScript 2.0.0. This ensures that your project uses the latest supported NativeScript 2.0.0 implementation in AppBuilder.

FIXED

Notable Resolved Issues

This release of AppBuilder introduces the following notable resolved issues.

Functional Area Notable Resolved Issues
General
  • Version control operations do no respect .gitattributes files.
Frameworks
  • You cannot build NativeScript apps with CocoaPods dependencies containing frameworks without headers (for example, nativescript-google-analytics).
  • Apache Cordova 4.0.0. apps that use Google Location, Activity Recognition, and Places services might become unresponsive on launch.
  • When migrating app from Apache Cordova 3.x to Apache Cordova 4.0.0 or later, AppBuilder might not be able to complete the migration, if the app already contains the Whitelist plugin.
Mobile Devices and Platforms
  • You cannot automatically generate assets for iPad Pro.
In-Browser Client
  • In Firefox, you cannot use the Select All check box option.
  • In a split code editor, you might experience issues when re-arranging the tabs of open files.
  • You cannot view the plugin.xml for plugins enabled in your app.
  • You cannot test geolocation-related functionality in the device simulator for apps that target Apache Cordova 4.x or 5.x.
Extension for Visual Studio
  • If your app is already connected to the cloud, the extension for Visual Studio might not configure it properly to work with the Analytics service.
Command-Line Interface
  • You cannot debug hybrid apps on OS X systems with the command-line interface.

CHANGED
