Hello everyone,

by request from several members of this Insiders group we scheduled a webinar for everyone. You should have all received the webinar info in the newsletter we sent yesterday, but in any case I'm also pasting the info here.

When: Tuesday, December 2, 2014
Time:11:00 AM - 12:00 PM EST
Register: https://www1.gotomeeting.com/register/285919617

I think it will work best for all of us if you write here any questions that you want to see answered during the webinar. This way I will be better prepared and hopefully it will be a useful discussion for all of us!

Thanks!

Hi Valio;

I think, it's very important that during webinar, you first establish the goal of NS for developers. What is it that it's going to solve and what it is not. Once we know the boundaries, then we can adjust our expectations. Who is this product for (LoB, small apps running locally, games and etc.)?
Next, what's it's architecture to work with backend data service to maintain all the client side proxies, data tracking, change tracking for the back end data? There are ton of tools out there who claim "Mobile" development, but 99% fall short of delivering a real solution to work as an extension of a Business Enterprise. These needs to be addressed, before jumping right into low level details.
That's at least what I need to know to sell that to clients.
Hope that helps!
..Ben

Hi Ben,

Thank you for the feedback. We will definitely take it into consideration.

Check out the Telerik Platform - the only platform that combines a rich set of UI tools with powerful cloud services to develop web, hybrid and native mobile apps.

I agree with the points brought up by Ben.  I think touching on some points of architecture would be helpful including thoughts on the use of libraries like Angular.  Is the feel of development going to be similar to writing single page or phonegap apps or is it going to have a more native feel?

Down the road something like the Parse.com Anypic (https://parse.com/tutorials) sample would be helpful.  In working with the Cordova based tools there are plenty of samples showing simple features and plugins but a reference app would be helpful and could promote Nativescript.  I think most developers are going to have similar needs of managing authentication, user accounts and general pushing/pulling of data to/from remote APIs.

Thanks!
Brad

The webinar was very helpful and I like the direction NativeScript is going!

On the layout and style between IOS and Android it looks like the default rendering takes on the default rendering of the platform and version.  Is there a way to carry one theme across all platforms (kind of like flat ui on KendoUI mobile) or since native controls are rendered they will still have the native look at feel even if the colors are shared across all platforms.

I'm not sure what other NS Insiders think but like the use of the XAML-like interface language.

That was one the best choices Telerik team adapted. I used XAML syntax for years and it's a very powerful and clean one.
I plan to learn TypeScript to basically feel like I'm doing SL/WPF again. :-)

I agree on the use of TypeScript.  I haven't had too much interest before but it seems to make a great deal of sense when combined with the XAML like interface.
