VisaDB release a new build a few days ago. One of the changes was a provider name change which is a code breakage issue. How long before a new OpenAccess build would be available for the new provider? Is this a quarterly change or more of a patch build?

I am just trying to get a sense of how these changes are made at Telerik?

Hi Eddie Conner,
Normally we are reacting very fast, esp. if you cannot continue working, would mean custom build. With VistaDB the situation is a little more complicated. The update from 4.0 to 4.1 is not free and we want to support only one version. Will anybody switch to 4.1 or is it better to stay with 4.0?

Maybe everybody interested just post his thoughts.

Best wishes,

VistaDB 4.1 removed a licensing process and had some enhancements. Anyone with a current subscription or wanting to have the version without the server licensing would upgrade. There has been clients on their forum that have upgraded.

Also, in a different post I read, the provider renaming is just in the machine.config and the classes didnt change. I think assembly redirection might work for now, but I havent tested yet.
