Hello

I'd like to be able to unit test (using NUNIT) my Telerik Winforms application. In the past, I have been able to use NUNITForms to do this, but as most of the controls are not derived from Windows Forms controls, I can't get it to work.

Do you know of any way of unit testing the UI of a Telerik Winfoms application please?
Many thanks

Hello Chris Browning,

As far as we know NUnitForms supports only very limited number of scenarios (and UI Controls) out of the box. There is way though to extend its functionality. You can create your own ControlTester and ControlRecorder classes that support the functionality you would need to perform UI tests.

Currently we do not have any examples or guidelines that could help you in this approach, but we will provide any help we can with the API of our tools that you would need.

We will also appreciate a lot if you can share the result with the rest of the community if you decide to do this. We are ready to reward you for your willingness to create these classes, depending on the coverage of the solution. We can take this offline in case you are interested in this offer.

Best wishes,

Hi Mike of the Telerik Team,

Was there any result of the offer for someone to make NUnitForms controls for the Unit testing of WinForm RadControls?
We are about to start a major UI development effort in Jan 2010 and I would like to have some automated testing processes created at the same time.

Ray

Hi there Telerik team,

Where I work, we have a project coming up that might be using RadControls for WinForms or possibly WPF.
I'm interested in finding out how we could do some automated tests with our code using those products.

I was wondering if you could say what sorts of tools you are using for automated testing in your development of RadControls for WinForms or WPF?

Best,
Murray Bishop

Hello Murray Bishop,

Thank you for contacting us. We are using TestComplete for automatic testing in WinForms. As to WPF, you can use any automation tool that supports WPF for example White.

Don't hesitate to contact us if you have other questions.
