Hi,

I want to uninstall winForms Q1 2010 SP2 for VS2010, it shows like below several hours.

"Please wait while configures Telerik RadControls for WinForms Q1 2010 SP2".

Any good idea solve this?

Software I had installed:

1. VS2005

2. VS2008

3. Telerik premium collection for .net (Q1 2010 SP2) [&& WinForms Q1 2010]

4. uninstall VS2005

5. install VS2010

6. uninstall/reinstall ASP.NET Q1 2010 SP2 (it's ok)

7.uninstall WinForms Q1 2010 SP2 (no results)

hope this information usabled.

Hi ChainHome Yang,

Thanks for the valuable feedback.

The uninstall process hangs when it tries to create an instance of Visual Studio in order to remove the VS templates. We will provide a fix for this soon.

As a workaround you need to:

1. Remove the installation from Windows installer database (with Windows Installer Cleanup).
2. Reinstall the controls by doing a custom installation.
3. Remove Visual Studio (2005 for example) integration.

To remove the installation from Windows installer database and to manually uninstall RadControls follow these steps:

1. Download the Windows Installer Cleanup utility from here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301 2. Use the Windows Installer Cleanup utility to remove RadControls for WinForms entry.
3. Remove all Telerik.WinControls* assemblies from the GAC (assuming that there are no other RadControls for WinForms installations that you would like to keep - in that case you will have to look at the assembly versions).
4. Remove the product folder from C:\Program Files\Telerik\
5. Remove the Visual Studio toolbox registration (using regedit) by deleting all Telerik.WinControls entries from the following locations in the windows registry:

For Visual Studio 2005:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Telerik\ToolboxInstaller

and for Visual Studio 2008:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\VisualStudio\9.0\ToolboxControlsInstaller

6. Remove Visual Studio item templates by deleting the files with these names:
TelerikRadAboutBox[CS|VB].v9.2.1.zip
TelerikRadForm[CS|VB].v9.2.1.zip
TelerikRadRibbonForm[CS|VB].v9.2.1.zip
TelerikShapedForm[CS|VB].v9.2.1.zip

from the CSharp and VisualBasic folders in these locations:

for Visual Studio 2005:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\Common7\IDE\ItemTemplates

and for Visual Studio 2008:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\Common7\IDE\ItemTemplates

7. Remove the product entry from the Windows Start menu.

I hope this helps. Do not hesitate to write again if you have more questions.

Hi, Peter

Thanks, it works and now I can use WinForms both VS2008 and VS2010.

I get the same problem with uninstalling RadControls for WinForms Q3 2009 SP1. It's impossible to get the Windows Installer Cleanup, because it is no longer available by Microsoft. Another method, please?
Thank you.

Hi Franco,

Please, find attached the Windows Clean Up Utility (unzip, run installer and follow the previous instructions). We will research what other options we have, now that MS have pulled the plug on this helpful tool.

All the best,
