This may be a dumb question, so please excuse me if it is.

I'm looking into starting a new web application project. I've made a web app before using ASP .Net AJAX and the Component Art controls.  If I go with the AJAX framework, I'll most certainly use Telerik's controls; I've had a great experience with Telerik's support for their WPF controls.  However, I am also considering using ASP .Net MVC, but I noticed that there are far fewer controls available for that than under AJAX.

My question: Is the smaller selection of controls available for the MVC framework just a matter of the AJAX framework being around longer or is there a technical limitation?

Thanks.

Hello Don,

Indeed the maturity of our UI for ASP.NET AJAX suite (which exists for more than 6 years now) results in wider set of widgets compared to UI for ASP.NET MVC.

On the other hand, as a relatively young product (less than 2 years old), UI for ASP.NET MVC provides quite a lot of functionality and widgets. In addition, it is built on top of our Kendo UI framework, which makes it flexible for desktop and mobile platforms and devices. The suite will be actively developed in the future and you will see more and more features and widgets in it.

Hope this answers your question.

Hello Sebastian,

Thanks. That's what I figured. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't something in the way MVC worked that might be getting in the way.
