Hi,

I don't know if there's a way but when we search for instance in Silverlight Forum, we get some very old results like 2009, 2010, 2011 and those results are not relevant regarding what we are looking for,  We do things based on what we find and yet this isn't good because they are too old and things have changed.  We need a way to set a date of search or any other filters that would help narrowing the results based on relevance or dates

Hello Marc,

You should be able to work around the lack of date-based filtering options by using the "Sort By Freshness" button on the search results page.

Let me know if that helps. It would also be useful if you could share the exact use case around what you are trying to find in case the above workaround is not enough.

Andrey

It works however the search result is not very good.  We loose the Relevance when sorting by freshness isn't it ?

Sorry for the delay in my reply.

You are 100% correct that you lose the relevance by doing that. I asked whether it helped, as freshness could be enough in certain cases. I will add a feature request for introducing date based filtering for search results in our backlog.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you experience any further difficulties.

Hello Jeff,

We log each feedback regarding the forums search in an internal story in our backlog. However the item is not publicly accessible.

We would appreciate if you share your current experience when using the Search functionality of Telerik forums, so we could review it along with other feature requests, problems and improvements we are considering for the search experience.

I've brought the issue up many times, but I think this post from way back in Dec 2009 sums it up:

Perhaps in another 4 or 5 years Telerik might consider it?

Hi Marc and Jeff,

We are exploring the idea of putting a system in place to let our customers know which piece of website feedback we are working on and enabling interactions such as upvoting other customers' requests. In the meantime, using the forums is the way to go.

Writing in the forums is enough to upvote another person's suggestion or add something you think is appropriate. You can be certain that all of your feedback is taken into consideration.

The reason for not having forum post editing enabled is related to the fact the forums are one of our main sources of feedback as stated above. While we do understand that there are good reasons for letting people edit their posts, we want to have an accurate record of all of their feedback.

Regards,
Andrey

Hi Andrey,

I read you.  However correcting mistype is not like changing all the message we wrote.  There's no reason why you would loose track of accuracy in our message just because we want it to be absolutely clear for you to track and understand us.

Anyway.

Sorry I did a mistype that you'll probably not understand,

I wanted to say TO UNDERSTAND US not just UNDERSTAND US at the end of the sentence.
