Resize problem on show keyboard

I use the RadChat control within a simple page in full size (no padding) on android.

When I tab the input message box, the keyboard shows up and the complete control is moving up without resizing.

This means the recent message is not visible (if it is a new conversation). How can I adjust the control resize behaviour that the keyboard is not hiding the messages?

 

Also how can I activate a whatsapp like scrollbar at the right side?

Hello Ben,

Indeed, we're aware of the current behavior - if there are a few messages only, when the keyboard is shown, they're moved up outside of the visible area. I am afraid this is a limitation of the RadChat control and with its current implementation it is not possible to change the current behavior and implement resize logic.  The same refers to the option to show a scrollbar on the right.

Have this problem been resolved? Today is the end of 2020 and I'm still experiencing the same issue. The messages are hidden and no scroll bar is visible when the keyboard is open.

Actually this issue is already resolved in the latest minor releases (after  2020.3.1106), you can check the public bug report here:

Chat: ChatListView is not properly resized when the keyboard is shown

Could you please verify the version you're using and try to upgrade (upgrade instructions)?  If you still experience the erroneous behavior, I'd ask you to open a support ticket and send us more details on the concrete setup, so we can research it further.

I am using version 2020.3.1207.1.  When I tap to type a message, the keyboard rolls up and covers the input area and I'm not able to see what I'm typing or the send button other than what is on the keyboard.  Is there a setting to tell it to move the entire control upward so I can see what I'm typing?

Hi Brent,

I've just tested the use case in a simple setup with the Chat control and the input area is also moved up with the keyboard, so  it stays visible on my side. I would need more details on the scenario you have - do you have any specific keyboard settings, do you reproduce this on Android or iOS?  Also if you can send me the page containing the Chat control, that would help, as well.

I am using Telerik.UI.for.Xamarin version 2021.1.119.1. I implemented Radchat control from conversational UI,

On android when I tab the input message box, the keyboard shows up and the complete control is moving up without resizing the chat conversation UI.

On IOS
when I tab the input message box, Input TextBox floating in between the screen and cover up all chat conversation UI part
Is there a setting to move the entire control upward so I can see the latest conversation?
If This issue resolved in any version please send a demo/sample project for that.

I've just tested RadChat control in a simple setup and I couldn't reproduce the behavior you've come across.  I've attached my demo solution as well as two gifs showing how it works on Android and iOS on my side. Please download the solution and give it a try.   

I would need more details on the scenario you have, so I can research why you'd experience the described behavior. Please open a support ticket and send me either a sample app showing the use case, or the other option is to modify my demo solution with your implementation and send it over.
