I have just a quick question: is there any way to eliminate the RadForm's RadTitleBar so that I can use the RadRibbonBar with it?  The RadForm would be a much better alternative to the ShapedForm that I'm currently using, but only if there is some way to have a proper-looking RibbonBar with it!

Thanks,

UIdev

Hi UIdev,
Thank you for writing us.
RadForm is still under development and a lot of work has to be done yet.
This is the first release for the RadForm component, and we had to leave some of the features for later on. To mention few there is Aero support for MS Vista, RibbonBar integration into a inherited class named RibbonForm, some more work to be done in the MDI area (currently we are not able to use RadForm efficiently as a MDI container, due to not merging child menu strips into the root, etc.)

We will try to develop a RibbonForm for the upcoming SP release in the third week of May. The worst case scenario is to have the fully featured RibbonForm introduced for the Q2 2008 release. If there is a delay it will be because of the fact that the RadRibbonBar have to be addressed also so it will integrate correctly into the new form component.

For more information on using RadForm - we have an article:

That sounds cool!  I will anxiously await RibbonForm, especially if there will be Aero support :)

Any progress on this as I have a need for a ribbonbar in my application as well (and I don't want to use the standard form).  My need is not an immediate one so I can be patient but, I thought I would check in since your previous post said 3rd week in May.

Thanks,

- Adam

Hello lindsaad,

We had to scale back our plans regarding the RadRibbonForm, as we are not yet ready re-engineering the RadRibbonBar. Most probably, we will introduce the RadRibbonForm for Q2 2008 or one of the Service Pack releases that follow the Q2 release.

So what ever became of RadRibbonForm?  Was this just dropped from the WinForms to-do list?  It still seems like it would be a good feature to have!

Hello UIdev,

I am glad to inform you that in Q3 2008 we introduced RadRibbonForm. For more information about how to add it, please refer to the following Knowledge Base article: Adding RadRibbonForm

I should warn you that we found a small incompatibility issue with Vista which will try to address.
You can try it, but the form will probably not function correctly under this operating system. Sorry for the inconvenience.

If you have additional questions, feel free to contact me.

Best wishes,

On the linked page http://www.telerik.com/support/kb/winforms/form/adding-radribbonform.aspx there are a link for us who use VS2008
add the templates manually. The link (http://www.telerik.com/support/kb/winforms/general/install-telerik-templates-in-visual-studio.aspx) does however create a serversideerror...
Could you please update the link/page so it will work for us in VS2008.

Regards Pelle

Thanks for the points ;)

A tips would be to add the text from VS2005 page to the 2008 how to add the form after installing it....
If you have VS2008 you stop reading the 2005 page and click to the 2008, and therefor miss how to add the form...
