[Solved] RadControls for Windows 8 platforms?

Why do you have a product suite marketed with the name "RadControls for Windows 8"? And why is this suite listed in the site's menu under "Mobile UI Controls"?

I tell you why I ask. The suite available for HTML/JavaScript/CSS developers, right? If that's the case, why can these controls be used to develop any website?  Or at the least, why are they listed under "Mobile"? Or are those other controls? Will these controls not work to develop native Windows 8 applications for the desktop?

Appreciate any enlightenment you can give.

Hi Karl,

RadControls for Windows 8 is a control suite for building Modern-style Windows Store applications - Microsoft's new immersive app technology. We provide a functionally equivalent suite of both XAML and HTML controls that you can use to build Windows Store apps using the technology you prefer. They are listed under "Mobile UI Controls" because Windows 8 is equally well suited for both tablet/touch and desktop environments. RadControls for Windows 8 cannot be used for building native Windows 8 applications for the desktop, due to the clear separation between the native desktop and immersive Windows Store experience, technology and SDK.

But the HTML RadControls for Windows 8, what keeps them from being used to build a website that would have the Modern UI look since they are pure HTML/JavaScript/CSS?

(Please note, I had not asked before if they would build native Windows application, but only if they would build Windows 8 desktop apps or just Windows 8 mobile apps.)

Hi Karl,

Windows 8 immersive apps run on both desktop and mobile environments, where, by mobile, I mean tablet/touch devices running Windows 8 (different from Windows Phone 8 run on mobile phones). RadControls for Windows 8 are designed for these Windows 8 applications running both on the desktop and touch devices.

The HTML version of RadControls for Windows 8 cannot be used for general purpose web application building, due to their dependence on Windows 8-specific javascript APIs.
