Hello,
I tried to replicate the problem with the page number in our grid online examples but to no avail. I also prepared a simple dojo example linked below and as you can see when some page is selected its number does not appear at the beggining:
http://dojo.telerik.com/AcARa
In case this not helps you can modify the sample in order to replicate the issue and send it back to us. We will inspect it locally and will advice you further.

Thanks for the dojo example. Good place to test and play around. Found my kendo js is updated but kendo css is outdated. Thanks.
