We are using the Kendo Map control with the layer type as "Type(MapLayerType.Bing)" on a number of our pages.  Leadership is asking if the Kendo Map control is impacted by the "end of life for Bing Maps AJAX V7 Control (V7) and SOAP Web Services offerings".  I have researched the kendo site but have found no documentation on what Bing services the Kendo Map control uses when the type is equal to "MapLayerType.Bing". I don't think there is an impact, but I am looking for confirmation.

Hello Steven,

I forwarded this to our developers' team for additional research to confirm if any of the changes in version 8 will affect the Kendo UI Map functionalities.

Once we received the information we will get back to you.

Thank you in advance for the patience.

Regards,
Stefan

Hello Steven,

Based on the research, changing the versions should not affect the Kendo UI Map functionalities. The "Bing Maps SOAP Web Services API is superseded by the Bing Maps REST Services API" and the Map widget is using REST services.

Please have in mind that as the version 8 is a new product, it can still cause an unexpected issue, which can be fully tested when the version 7 is stopped.

Still, if any unexpected issues occur after 30 June, please let us know and we will gladly assist.

Regards,
Stefan

Just want to verify the original post regarding MapLayerType.Bing in kendo map.  According to this site - https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/bingmaps/articles/bing-maps-on-azure-marketplace - Bing Maps is shutting down.  Does this impact the Kendo Map control or does Kendo still get licensed through the Bing API somehow?

Thank you.  With a Jan 31 end date of Bing, I'm assuming Kendo Maps with Bing won't work after that.  Will Kendo have an option in place soon or do we need to look at other options?  Obviously we need time to develop, test and deliver a workable solution to our clients by then.
