Good morning.
Our company wants to move into a project, where using Icenium we want to use the IDynamo Credict card swiper for IPad, the MagTek iDynamo 5.
This device uses the thunderbolt port to connect to the ipad.
The
idea is to have a comprehensive app that charges credit cards and
performs other operations on the phones, for both android and ios.
What would be the steps necessary to read a credit using Icenium and this device?
Any pointers will be indicated.

Hello Alejandro,
Thank you for bringing this to us.
In order to achieve this, you will need a custom Cordova plugin, that will bridge the native MagTek SDKs and your hybrid application. Unfortunately, there is no such plugin on the web at this stage. Nevertheless, googling about it shows a big interest in this technology among the Cordova community. So, I think it is expected such to be developed in the very near future.
Another option will be to follow this workflow and implement the plugin on your own. Of course, we will be glad to assist you further if you choose this path.
I hope the information answers your question.

Now that I see there is the new NativeScript technology, is this now possible using a NativeScript project?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Hello,
The NativeScript for iOS currently supports the new iOS8 shared frameworks. And the SDK for iOS of the MagTec iDynamo 5 is distributed as a static library. We have plans to support such scenarios in the near future.
At the current state you may need to rebuild our metadata with the MagTec SDK included and link the libraries by hand in the Xcode project generated by the NativeScript CLI. We will follow up with more information in a while.
The good news is for android we already support adding jars as dependencies. Check the article for android libraries.

Check out the Telerik Platform - the only platform that combines a rich set of UI tools with powerful cloud services to develop web, hybrid and native mobile apps.

Pana,
Thank you for the reply! Im starting to understand more of the Nativescript framework. Im new to the mobile world in general, besides some small Hybrid apps. We are planning a new project and are trying to determine some new technologies to go with. Do you have an estimated time frame for when Nativescript for iOS will support 3rd party/external libraries? Also, is the NativeScript 1.0 scheduled for April or May?
Thanks!

Hi,
The release is scheduled for the beginning of May. For the release we will provide instructions how static libraries can be used.
