Been all over the Intertubes and none of the codeproject BandObjects seem to work.  And IE uses COM for the toolbar integration (so last millenium).

I'm looking for a tool that would enable me to build a custom IE toolbar.  My company is willing to buy (having wasted enormous man-hours on open source).

So, is there a Telerik tool I can use to build and install a custom IE toolbar?

I need VS2010 C# compatible advice/tools.  And we use IE8.

Thanks, Jay

Hello Jay,

Thank you for your interest in our controls.

Yes, it is possible to use our controls inside Internet Explorer as custom toolbars. However, we do not provide dedicated tools which can help you to build and install IE toolbars.

I followed the steps described in this code project article and I was able to create a sample toolbar using RadCommandBar. I attached the sample project here. Please, note that you should follow the instructions from this article and you should have BandObjectsLib assembly and all referenced Telerik assemblies installed in GAC.

You should consider the following forum thread which discusses whether it is suitable to write shell extensions in .Net.

Should you have any further questions, do not hesitate to ask.

Kind regards,
