Is it possible to lazily load children in this winforms grid control?

I will have a very large dataset and it can be several children deep. I'd like to only load the top level, then dynamically load any children when the user expands a node (and this will continue if there any further children).

Is this possible and if so could anyone provide me with an example or a method?

Thanks

M

Hi M,

This functionality is in development and it will be available in some of our next major releases.

Hi, thanks for the quick reply.

Does this mean it'd be impossible to implement this functionality myself, or that it would be very time consuming?

Hello guys,

m, you can implement the desired functionality on your own, but I am afraid that it will be a time consuming effort.

Fakhru, we will do our best to implement the lazy-loading feature on time for the Q3 2009 release scheduled for the first half of November.

If you have additional questions, feel free to contact me.

Hello,

Am I correct in thinking that lazy loading / on demand loading didn't make it into the 2009 Q3 release? And that as of today no internal build is available with this functionality?

Is there a time line or estimate for these features? Lazy/dynamic loading is critical to my currently overdue task, but other than this issue I've been pleased with the Telerik documentation and GridView architecture.

Hopefully you have some good news for me?

Thank you,

Drew

Hi Drew Loika,

Unfortunately, the desired feature is not included in Q3 2009.

The implementation of this feature requires a major change in the RadGridView data layer. We are doing this change as we speak and both the improved data layer and the lazy loading feature will be introduced in the Q1 2010 due in the beginning of March 2010.
