Just updated for the first time since my purchase in February.  Anything I've done with Telerik since then will no longer compile.  Apparently I'm missing a reference to a namespace for everything under the Telerik.WinControl.UI namespace.  RadGridView, RadStatusStrip, RadLabelElement...all these are throwing "type or namespace does not exist..." errors.

My Telerik.WinControls.UI reference is pointing to C:\Program Files (x86)\Telerik\RadControls for WinForms Q1 2013\Bin40\Telerik.WinControls.UI.dll, the default location.

What am I missing here?  Let me know if you need more particulars...I'm assuming this is an easy fix and that I'm just being blind here...lol

Cheers!

Wayne

Hello Wayne,

Installing the Latest version of the RadControls do not upgrade your already existing projects.

When you install the latest version you should open your project in Visual Studio and use the Upgrade Wizard in order to update the project itself. Upgrade Wizard is reachable under the Telerik -> RadControls for WinForms menu in Visual Studio.

More information about the Upgrade Wizard you could find here: http://www.telerik.com/help/winforms/installation-deployment-and-distribution-vsx-creation-and-configuration-wizard.html.

Let me know if you experience any further problems.

I just had to create a support ticket because after updating to 2013 Q2 and upgrading Winform and Reporting projects in a solution I received hundreds of resource errors for Telerik controls.  The upgrade wizard reported successful completion for both projects.

I have successfully updated these projects before.

We'll see.

That worked.  So I'll have to do that after every upgrade?  Any documentation on what is actually happening during the upgrade process, or why things break like that?

Hi Wayne,

I am glad that you have managed to upgrade your projects.
On the following article you could find information about our installers and how do they upgrade each other: Major and Minor releases.
Also have in mind that if you use the Telerik Control Panel, by default it always removes the older versions of the product when you are installing the latest one (and this is the reason why the projects are broken).
However this is an option which could be changed in Telerik Control Panel. For more information on how to do that you could refer to the Help section of the Control panel (just start Telerik Control Panel and you will see an icon with a question mark on the top right corner).
