In Firefox and Internet Explorer, when an image is added to an Editor window using the Image Browser, the user can resize the image using the handles presented when the user clicks on the image.

This functionality is not available in Chrome. Is there a reason? When can we expect this functionality to be implemented for Chrome?

Thank you.

Hi Trevor,

Image resizing inside the Editor relies on browser functionality, which Chrome does not currently have. We are not aware when this will be available.

Hello,

Theoretically, you could use jQuery resizable, but according to this post, it does not work very well.

somehow both of these editors found a way to make images resizable in chrome. This editor really is one of the weakest elements of kendo.

Hello Marty,

Probably I was not clear enough in my previous post. What I meant is that we have not implemented anything particular to support image resizing inside the Editor, but some browsers allow this natively. Surely it is possible to introduce such a feature, and we can consider doing this in the future, depending on the number of requests and other tasks that we have.

Dimo,

thanks for the clarification.

I would hope that Telerik would be looking at the competition and updating/improving based on that and not just what is voted on in the forum.

It would be a useful feature. We have been waiting for this for a long time.

I was waiting too for this feature but it looks like it is not implemented yet and might not be implemented in future. Can't be such a big thing to implement it.

I don't understand why this will be ignored and makes me thinking about using tinymce or so.

Hi folks,

The R3 2016 release is live and you can test the brand new table resizing functionality along with the new Table Wizard! Those are some of the improvements that has been added and will be added more in the future that will make the Kendo Editor more powerful as RadEditor for ASP.NET AJAX.

If you'd like to see image resizing functionality not only in Firefox, but in all major and modern browsers, please submit your votes for the following Feedback portal item:

http://kendoui-feedback.telerik.com/forums/127393-kendo-ui-feedback/suggestions/10860429-images-resizable-inside-editor-widget

Once it becomes popular the chance to get implemented raises significantly.

Best regards,
Rumen

Thank you for your answer. Thats my vote I created 2015, so I know about it. You know, I have a project going on that requires certain features. I don't know IF or WHEN voted features are coming, so I can't count on it and therefore have to look for open source solutions. With your post I also got an email of new Kendo UI release. It says what has changed but not exactly what. "Dropdownlist improvements"... Erm ok, but what kind of improvements? I couldn't find/see in detail WHAT has changed.

Probably all nice features but doesn't solve the initial posting here.

You can see which are the most popular items in the feedback portal here and that the top 5 of them were planned for the R3 2016 release.

If the image resizing feature becomes among the most popular items we will definitely raise its priority and plan it in our backlog.

Thank you, I just have installed tinyMCE that is having all these features I'm looking for.

Please don't get me wrong: I highly appreciate Kendo UI in general but some widgets just lack of some basic features that others have since years! Now I could continue begging for those in hope they might come in future or I just could look for alternatives.

Just found by accident: http://demos.telerik.com/aspnet-ajax/editor/examples/overview/defaultcs.aspx

Wow, wow, wow!!! Image resizing: no problem (in any browser)! The whole editor is a pure pleasure to work with! So the code is available and working. Since the aspnet editor and the kendoui editor are both based on working in a browser, it frustrates me a bit to see how much they differ and why "we" can't have such a great working editor.

Hi there,

As I already noted earlier our ultimate goal is to make the Kendo Editor at least as powerful as RadEditor for ASP.NET AJAX. Both editors, however, are quite different and their selection mechanisms are based on different logic. That's why it's impossible to port and reuse code and functionality from RadEditor into the Kendo Editor.

The x-browser image selection and resizing is definitely a must have feature, but we need more votes in the portal to raise its priority in our ToDo list.

Rumen

any news about image resizing? It has been years and still this doesn't work?? I see http://interactjs.io/ is able to do it. Certainly you can come up with a work around even if I have to use a pop up window.  How about a resize slider in the selection/view window that i can look or unlock the proportions?

Hi Marty,

Thank you for the links and information you provided!

While we strive to satisfy all good feature requests, the features in the backlog are implemented by user demand collected via surveys, interviews, trends, the feedback portal, the support and other channels. The requested image rezising feature is pretty useful, but unfortunately not among the ones with very high demand (http://kendoui-feedback.telerik.com/forums/127393-kendo-ui-feedback/filters/top) and it still awaits in the stack with features.

Nevertheless, I will inform the PM about your request and if possible he will raise its priority.

Once again thank you for your valuable feedback.

Best regards,
Rumen
