Hello Khizar Khan,

Currently RadGridView does not support this functionality. However, the feature is in our feature request list and we will consider implementing it in one of our upcoming releases. Could you please, describe in detail your requirements. Maybe we can find an alternative solution. We will also consider your feedback when implementing the feature.

I am looking forward to your reply.

Kind regards,
Jack

Hi,

We have a requirement where on hover of a field need to show a tool tip (which is a user control in our case) and has grid with details.. now that there are more than 10-12 columns and the list will grow to another 2-3 columns which will look very wide on the screen. hence we were thinkign of placing it vertically.

I will be very good if we have the radgrid to vertically display, can you please put this development on priority? or any other alternative will be helpful

I have enclosed the screen print for your reference.

any suggestion are welcome.

Regards,
Khizar

Hi Khizar Khan,

I apologize for the late answer. Thank you for these additional details. Placing RadGridView inside a tool tip is possible when using our screen tips functionality. However, this scenario could lead to some side effects. If the grid contains a lot of information displaying the tool tip may slow down the response time of your application and will increase the memory usage. Maybe using the RadMultiColumnComboBox control in this case is a better option. Could you please elaborate a bit more on your scenario? This will help me to be more accurate and precise in my suggestions.

The property grid control will be a powerful feature in our portfolio and we will definitely consider it when planning our next release.

If you have further questions, do not hesitate to contact me.

Best wishes,
Jack

I would also like to see an enhancement to the RadGridView so that the grid's orientation can be changed from displaying the columns horizontally to displaying the columns vertically. In my case, I don't need to change the functionality at all except to display the columns vertically on the left side and to display the rows horizontally moving from left to right.

Is there any update on this functionality being added to the RadGridView?

Hi Troy,

This feature is interesting and it is logged in our wish list. However, I cannot give you a time frame in which it will be implemented. As alternative solution you can consider our RadPropertyGrid control. Check our Demo application for an example.

If you have other questions, we will be glad to help.
