Hi Ravi,
I tested to reset my ReportServer password on our locally installed ReportServer through the Forgot Password functionality. I received the "Reset Password" email as expected in few seconds. The link was functional and I successfully updated my password and logged in afterward. Could you elaborate on the issue? Is it possible that the e-mails get blocked for some reason? You may check the SMTP server, e.g. some logs for details on whether the e-mail has actually been sent.

I had to update the SMTP settings with a new url.
Test Email for sent out.
Scheduled Report was sent out.
Just Forgot Password emails no longer worked.
What logs can I look into?
I am running version 4.1.18.620

Hello Ravi,
We checked our bug fixing history back to version 4.1.18.620 and couldn't find anything related to e-mails. On our side Forgot Password e-mail is sent correctly.
You may test to re-install the ReportServer or upgrade to a new version. You should back-up your Storage first.
You may search the Internet on how to view/create logs for the particular SMTP on the particular Windows IIS - for example How To Check SMTP Logs in Windows Server (IIS)?

Hi Ravi,
First, please accept my apologies for not being clear in my previous post on the issue. To say if there is a workaround or not, we have to know what the exact issue is. Given that, at this stage, the problem seems more related to the SMTP server (which falls outside our area of expertise) than to our product. Anyway, to be sure and also be able to provide any further guidance, I will require some additional information from your side.
First, we need to make sure that the SMTP server works as expected. To check this, can you please troubleshoot the SMTP server as explained in this article - Cannot send emails: How to fix email sending issues? Will any of the suggestions help on your side?
Additionally, if the above didn't work, is it possible to configure the Report Server to use a different SMTP server and try reproducing the issue after that?
I hope any of the above sheds more light on the faulty behavior and helps in resolving it. Still, I am looking forward to your reply.

The following works with the new smtp server.
Working emails
My scheduled report emails are sending out.
Manually executing the scheduled task also sent out the email.
Test email in the SMTP configuration also got sent out.
Emails never send out
New user emails
Forgot password emails.
Hi Ravi,
I tested again with the Test Mail Server Tool that can be downloaded from https://test-mail-server-tool.soft32.com/. The tool saves all the messages it detects in a specified folder, so you can see all the messages sent by the Report Server. I used the version you use - 4.1.18.620. On our end both 'New user emails' and 'Forgot password emails' were sent correctly. I have attached a video of my tests for reference. The video is silent, in SWF format and can be played in a browser with installed Flash plug-in.
I suggest to install the same tool and make similar tests on your side. Here are the steps to do this:
- Download the tool from the above link - the file TestMailServerToolSetup.exe will be downloaded to your download folder.
- Run the downloaded executable and follow the instructions.
- Run the tool from the desktop icon (check the screenshot TestMailServerIcon.png) or from the Windows Taskbar Search tool - RunTestMailServer.png screenshot.
- The tool will start and you may configure it - right-click on its toolbar icon as shown in the screenshot TestMailServerOptions.png. You can specify the folder where the mails will be saved.
- In the video, you may see how to set up the Report Server to utilize the mail server. You just need to use 'localhost' as 'SMTP host' and set 'Port' to 25.
Finally, please check what's in the specified email folder and let us know of the results so that we can assist you further.
