[Solved] Extend Spreadsheet with own functions

I would like to add some functions to Spreadsheet that fetch data from the server, e.g.
=numberOfUsers()

this should call: GET /api/numberOfUsers

and display the returned date.

Is this possible and if yes, how?

I only looked at the Kendo UI for JSP documentation and missed http://docs.telerik.com/kendo-ui/controls/data-management/spreadsheet/custom-functions
