Hi

Are there any plans to support native desktop (Windows Desktop, MacOS, Linux) application as well? I really like NativeScript and it would be very useful to be able to target desktop clients using the same tool-set. Is it possible for third parties to retarget the OS implementation for other platforms (kind of like MonkeyX)?

Thanks

Hi Paul,

Thanks for the nice words and for the interesting suggestion!
While we do not have immediate plans for the desktop, this seems a really useful product for the community.

I'm looking forward to more comments over this topic so that the idea gets shaped.

Kind regards,

Here's the link to Monkey X that I mentioned: http://www.monkey-x.com/

It's relatively easy to add a new target - something that would be very useful if NativeScript had an extensible target interface.

I thought NativeScript supports (or will support) Windows Universal, which is supposed to be an all-encompassing technology that includes Windows desktop? Is this correct?

Hello Oscar,

Indeed we have Windows Universal support as internal prototype however we are still experimenting to find the best approach.

Hi Vlad,

Great! You probably are also aware that the new WinJS 4.0 now even tightly integrates with AngularJS.

I don't know what impact the development of WinJS 4.0 has with respect to the implementation of NativeScript's integration with Windows Universal, but WinJS 4.0 is a curious development.

Regardless, we're eagerly looking forward to NativeScript 1.0.!

Best,
Oscar
