Controls not showing on form

When I drop a RAD control on a form, the control does not show on the design surface of the form - it goes to the components section of the form (where timers and dialogs components are shown).

Do I have a bad build? I'm using the .dll's only, not a full install of the 2011 Q1 release.

Thank you for writing.

The observed behavior is most likely to be caused by a missing Telerik.WinControls.UI.Design.dll in your GAC (Global Assembly Cache). Since you are using only the dll's, please add only this assembly to GAC, restart Visual Studio and try again. Please refer to this Knowledge Base article, which demonstrates how to add assemblies in GAC.

I have the same issue, but it's the radDropDownList that will not show, however, the radMultiColumnComboBox worked just fine.

Hello Ryan,

This does not seem to the the same case as the one Morgan reported and since I am not able to guess what might be causing this I would like to kindly ask you to open a new support ticket and provide me with your project there. Also, please clarify whether 2013.1.220 is the only version installed on your PC and in your GAC.

I have tried reinstalling few times. I can not drag the controls on my form at all. It seems to be installed fine but nothing works

Hi, Deepa,

According to the provided information, it wouldn't be easy to determine what causes the issue on your end. Usually, if the toolbox version is different than the version of the referred assemblies in your project, the dragged and dropped control may be displayed in the components tray below form's designer. Please make sure that both versions are the same.

I would like to ask you to carefully check the references to all Telerik controls in your project and make sure that they are the same version considering the suffix as well (.20 or .40). Better yet, you can remove all references and add them anew by using the DLLs from your fresh installation. Delete the license.licx file. After that, you should rebuild your project, close Visual Studio and open it again to make sure that no references are kept in the memory by Visual Studio.  

The toolbox version depends on the version of the Telerik UI for WinForms suite installed in GAC. The following KB article demonstrates how to inspect whether old versions are available in GAC and remove them if any exist: https://docs.telerik.com/devtools/winforms/knowledge-base/examine-the-gac 

Last thing that I can suggest you to try after following all of the above mentioned steps is to right-click the toolbox and reset it:
