I'm just wondering if Universal (and also Win 8.1) will be "fully supported" like your great WPF controls.
In Universal I can find 9 (!!!) controls.
In Win 8.1 additional 9 controls.
Taking a look at your competitors I find 40 and more universal controls.
OK, it depends on how they count - but even with "pessimistic counting" I see more than 30 unique controls there.
I got used to the fact that telerik is always "in front" with the number and quality of their control suites.
But it looks as if this changed in the last year - especially with mobile / Win 8 controls.
What are the future plans for universal / Win 8.1?
Will you (in a realistic timeframe) enhance the controls to the "full featured set" (like WPF / SL) or what else are your plans?
Regards
Manfred

Thank you for writing.
During 2015 we will focus on making as many Windows8.1-specific/Windows Phone 8 controls universal as possible. This means that eventually all/most of the controls that are part of UI for Windows Phone will become part of UI for Windows Universal. In addition, each Windows 8.1 specific control will receive a universal implementation making it available for both Windows 8.1 and Windows Phone 8.1.
Another initiative we're committed to is to enable an easy and intuitive way for developers to achieve cross-platform scenarios using UI for Android, UI for iOS and UI for Windows Universal.

today Q1_2015 was released.
Counting I found still only 9 controls.
You wrote: Windows 8.1 specific control will receive a universal implementation...
Now the Win8.1 Controls are part of Universal - but they are only available for Win8.1 as before.
In the newsletter I read
###
The new ListView and SideDrawer controls for Xamarin and Windows Universal, as
well as DataSource for Windows Universal, provide fundamental building
blocks for your mobile apps
###
But when I hit your website I found:
DataSoure for Xamarin.Android and Xamarin.iOS - but not in Universal.
SideDrawer is available for Xamarin.Android (BETA) and Xamarin.iOS - but not for Universal.
ListView is available for Xamarin.Android and Xamarin.iOS (BETA) - but not for Universal.
So "Universal and Xamarin" means - Chart and Calendar are the only two Controls available for all platforms.
Is there a mistake in the newsletter - or at the website?
And are there any news when more controls will be available?
Regards
Manfred
There has been a mistake in the newsletter. We did not manage to release it with Q1 2015. The control can be expected around the Q2 timeframe.
The Q1 2015 of UI for Windows Universal adds 4 new controls to the suite - ListView (beta), SideDrawer, LoopingList and NumericBox. You can find them in the installation bundle which you can download from your account.
We're in the process of updating the documentation which will be live in couple of days and will reflect the newly added controls.
Sorry for the inconvenience caused.

although I'm not impressed with your progress in providing a "rich set of controls for Universal" your support is still the best I've ever seen.
Thank your the fast reply

Windows Universal stuff has been there for a while now and still no big progress here
Hope it gets better now. There are some (<admin>link removed - advertising</admin>) good Universal controls, just want to see what Telerik is capable to do
Am particulary interested in the Grid one
Thank you for writing. Which other controls, beside the Grid are you interested in?

RadialMenu, Slider, Pagination, ImageEditor, TrialReminder, RateAppReminder
Also a good RichTextEditor
Thanks for sharing. I've added your request to our backlog and I'll let you know once we start working on any of those controls.

Hi Kirill,
Any news about imageeditor control for UAP?
Thank you for getting back to us! We have already added ImageEditor for Universal in our backlog and is currently scheduled for the end of the summer, possibly with our Q3 release.

Hi,
We used your RadControls for windows phone 8 (Q2 2013) in our app. Now when migrating to windows universal type apps we tried using your recent 'UI fro Windows Universal' but there are some controls missing like Rad password box, RadConversationView, RadContextMenu to name a few. In your previous replies you said you are working on getting most of the controls used in WP8 to Universal. My question is what are the controls which wont be there, if any, and when can we expect a complete product. We need to plan our development accordingly, so hoping a detailed reply.
Thankyou
So no progress here at all?
"...the backlog...possibly end of summer..."
That sounds very different to Kirils Post from November "...focus on making as many...as possible".
Almost mid of the year - nothing happened (almost to be precise, since there a some more controls available now).
From my point of view "universal" has two aspects - "Windows Universal" and ".NET Universal". For the second I mean Xamarin (Xamarin Forms as well as .Android / .iOS).
And while you still provide only 9 controls for Windows Universal competitors provide 11 controls for ".NET Universal".
But lets stay with Windows Universal.
This case is very important for us - in November (last year) we've been thinking - ok, telerik will do it... so we decided to wait.
As a happy telerik customer for (much) more than 10 years we sometimes had to wait - but it was worth waiting.
And that was waiting for "some weeks" or so - not for such a long time without seeing any (notable) progress.
Now we are in the situation that Windows 10 is near - universal apps therefore become even more important and this means we have to make a decision.
I checked telerik Next - event no "big news" about Windows Universal support - instead "Building Touch Apps With UI For WPF" and Cordoba, KendoUI...
Is there any chance that telerik will have any progress in the NEAR future?
And please could you provide an answer which is a bit more precise not "...next year focus...on backlog for the end of summer".
Manfred
Thank you for the feedback. I can share what we have planned for the Q2 2015 release of UI for Windows Universal. We will be releasing:
- DataForm,
- Expander,
- DataSource
The ImageEditor will be redesigned to support more form factors, so the control will be available after the Q2 timeframe.
The Q3 2015 roadmap has not been finalized yet. As soon as we have more concrete information, I'll share details with you.

Thank you for the fast answer.
I'm just curious - you wrote
>>Support for CheckBoxes in the ListView
Did I miss something - I found no ListView in your Universal controls...
Or did you mean the DataBoundListBox?
So to make a partial list of "what's missing":
- Grid
- Gauge
- Numeric input (Up - Down / Numeric Textbox)
- RadialMenu
- HubTile
- Barcode
- UniformGrid
- Window
- SlideView
- Expander
- AutoCompleteBox
- ContextMenu
- JumpList
- ...
I'm just listing telerik Controls from which I was hoping (on your first answer "...focus on...universal.... all/most of the controls that are part of UI for Windows Phone will become part of UI for Windows Universal..")
Anyhow - thank you again for this information - it helps us a lot in strategic planning.

Manfred

Hi Kiril,
sorry for that - I was checking (as I guess most of (potential) customers do) the product page:
http://www.telerik.com/windows-universal-ui
And here it seems as if the "controls list" is not at the current state.
Just to complete your list (thank you for that) with a few "wanted" things:
- Combo Box
- Rich Textbox
- Dropdown Button
- Range Slider
- Radial Slider
- ColorPicker
- Sparkline
- Grid Splitter
- Carousel
- Tab Control
Regards
Manfred
I understand your confusion. We're in the process of updating the product page with the new controls and features. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Hi,
Can someone reply to our previous post. We need controls like Rad Conversation view, Rad Context Menu, Rad Image Button, Jump List etc. And just to be clear Q3, Q2 ... means quarter 2, quarter 3 right (assuming end of june and end of september).
We currently don't have plans to work on the controls you mentioned. If we do, it will be around the Q3-2015/Q1-2016 timeframe. That's why I'd suggest you cast your vote on the links below thus increasing the priority of what is important for you.
Grid
ImageEditor
SlideView
JumpList
ColorPicker
Gauge
RadialMenu
Barcode
UniformGrid
DropDownButton
Window
ContextMenu
ComboBox
RichTextBox
Slider
ColorPicker
Sparkline
TabControl
GridSplitter

The next release (Q2) is scheduled for the end of this month. For the Q2 release of UI for Windows Universal we will be releasing a DataForm (PropertyGrid) component. Once the release is live we will focus on the migration to Windows 10 story. I will update this thread as soon as we prioritize the list of components.

Hi,
Hope you are working hard to port controls to UAP because we are badly needed them:) By the way the RTM Windows UAP SDK already here http://blogs.windows.com/buildingapps/2015/07/29/its-time-to-upgrade-your-world-and-your-apps/
Vic
RTM?
From what I see this is the final version of VS 2015 including the W10 universal tools.
But this is the "next step" - the thread here was / is about Win 8.x universal - released LAST YEAR and still the amount of telerik universal controls is very little.
NOW we have the next generation (W10) released, which makes the situation not better.
So while we had "missing W8.x universal controls" we now have missing W8.x universal controls PLUS missing W10 universal controls.
And when I read (W8.x) about Q1-2016 I'm not very optimistic for W10.
By the way - even JustCode for VS2015 is "Experimential" at the moment.
I just found this:
RIP327
When will Telerik UI controls built for Windows 10 UAP become available, even if in Beta form?
http://michaelcrump.net Michael Crump
...I don’t have any dates to give you at the moment, as we are working with a CTP. Once Visual Studio 15 is released, you can expect Telerik to have something ready.
here in the "Comments":
http://developer.telerik.com/uncategorized/a-succinct-look-at-windows-10-tools-for-developers/
VS2015 is released - is "something ready" here?
I could not agree more with ManniAT. Just installed Win10 today, together with VS2015 and hoped to find lots of Telerik stuff for universal apps. What I found was some smaller components, things that more or less are already built into Win10. But what about GridView, DataPager, Scheduler, Reporting etc.? All those "big" funny components that make life easier? I am a little bit disappointed...

We are working on our UWP suite at this very moment. We will post more detailed information in the weeks to come.

An other question - the initial request (starte several months ago) of this thread was about 8.1 universal controls.
Any news about this?
With Q3 we will be adding an ImageEditor control to the Windows 8.1 suite. We are also releasing an official version of DataForm.
I am afraid, Grid and ImageEditor will not be included in the initial release of UWP controls. We will consider adding them in future releases, but no certain time frame is available at the moment. We will keep you updated.
Best regards,
Ves

Hi Ves,
Thanks for this information! I have a few questions:
1. Is Windows 8.1 suit include support Windows phone?
2. What does it mean Q3 - is that calendar third quarter?
Victor
Thanks for reaching out.
The Windows 8.1 suite does not include support for Windows Phone.
Sorry for the confusion, Q3 is not the calendar third quarter. You can think of it as R3 or the last major release for the year. Usually comes around the months of September/October.

Telerik
We have scheduled the Image editor release for Q1 (early next year). Rather than porting the control we have completely rebuilt it adding support for lumia SDK filters and extending its capabilities and UX.
Here is a complete list with the tools/effects which are planned to be supported for the initial version:
- Antique
- Grayscale
- Lomo
- Moonlight
- Negative
- Posterize
- Sepia
- Brightness
- Contrast
- Hue
- Saturation
- Sharpness
- Temperature
- Vibrance
- Crop
- Text(positioning of custom text)
- Flip
- Rotate
I hope this information is useful.
