Control Panel not installing

Is there a problem with the current version of the control panel installer? When I run it, it extracts to a folder under the users Temp folder (AppData\Local\Temp). It previously used to install itself into the program files (x86)\Progress folder. Any current installation does not get updated and every time you try run it, you get the message that the control panel is outdated and needs to be updated. Except that the file for the new version does not do that

 

Version is: 2021.2.1110.4

Hello Chris,

I am sorry to hear about the difficulties you had with our product.

When you download the executable file and launch it, it doesn't actually install the application. After you start the executable you need to perform Install or Modify action of any product. The Progress Control Panel will install itself on your machine the first time you perform one of the actions.

We are aware that this is not the best workflow and we are planning on improving that in the future.

Hi

The control panel previously used to have it's own full installer that would install just the control panel into the program files folder (even without having any other product installed). When did that change? That worked well when you opened an older version of the control panel and it asked to get updated, as the installer would update the current control panel

Hello Chris,

The msi installer is not available for download under Your account. It gets downloaded by the Progress Control Panel when there is a newer version. All the files that Progress Control Panel downloads can be found in %programdata%\Progress\Installer\Downloads folder. Would you please check whether you have the msi file on your side?

We are currently working on enhancing the upgrading process for our next release of the Progress Control Panel.

Just as a heads up, if you have a Telerik license their internal support team is often very good and will provide code samples. If you provide them with a sample project with the issue that they can load up on their end they will sometimes azar echat random even correct your code.
