I don't know if anyone else is experiencing this, but in case it's not just me I want to report some weird behavior in Firefox.  When I click "reply" or "new thread" and come to the posting screen, the title textbox and content editor are outlined in red.  I can type in the title, but I can't seem to edit or insert any text in the editor.  This seems to just happen in Firefox (though I only tested it in FF and IE 7, so I can't say for sure).  When I refresh the page, neither input area has a red outline around it and I can type as usual.  This is happening every time to me.  I haven't noticed this happening to me on other sites, and this wasn't an issue with the old Telerik site.  Anyway, if this is a legitimate bug, I hope you can fix it without too much trouble!

Thank you,

I bet maybe these may have been mentioned, before.. :

Aggregate--  Please create pages that feature, say, all the latest posts, by suite.  And then put an RSS feed for that, too.  When I'm working I'd like to keep up on all suite posts.. without having to drill down to each forum.

Search-- I know this has been said.. it's awful.  Also, search.. open items in new window.. work... etc.. revisit search page and it's no longer valid.  forcing a new search.  (it's easier to just use Google site-search)

Oh.. an ajax preview, or, ajax view.. of the post would be great.

Thanks.. D

It seems to me that the forum search includes the menu as part of the content to be searched. If I seek info on RadToolTip it returns every page in the forum since it finds it in the menu of every page.

This is very frustrating and is likely bloating your forum since many people post questions that would otherwise be located with a simple search.

I have been testing your new Prometheus suite and find it exhaustive due to this issue. I must spend 80% more time to find the answers I seek. Once in full production, this will cost me money and possibly lead me to drop your tool set as a result. I should be able to search on RadToolTip and return nothing but posts that actually contain the word RadToolTip.

I'm very excited about the news that you are expanding into the ORM market!  Any idea when your subscribers will be able to start using it?

Hi telerik,

I've a question about the product releases these days. It has been a while ago since I developed an ASP.NET project myself, so I had to start reading about the latest development in .NET etc.

I was a bit confused when I was starting to download the r.a.d.controls for ASP.NET from my client.net. There is:

- r.a.d.controls for asp.net
- r.a.d.controls prometheus for asp.net
- r.a.d.controls futures

All 3 suites are compatible with Visual Studio 2008, but some are in beta fase and others are not.

I'm sure there will be some posts that I missed with an explanation about the differences, but I really hope you guys are not going to do the same as Microsoft: giving alpha's, betas, previews etc. of each product that is coming out and with each release there are problems and thing that will be fixed in next releases etc.

If that is your strategy: please give us (me) some more detailed overview of what product to use in which version of VS and .NET.

Example: I like the features of Prometheus. But something is telling me I should wait to develop a project with it, because there isn't a final release. I don't want to go back to the classic controls, but from them I'm sure they work in my projects. If I use a preview or beta, will it be working when the final release is coming out? Or do I have to do all kinds of conversions etc.?

Well, I don't know if you know what I mean, but this was something I ran into when I was starting downloading from my client.net.

Just want your advice on this: I'm starting to develop an ASP.NET project in Visual Studio 2008 and .NET 3.5. What suite should I use?

Thanks for reading,
Daniel

I'm an experienced ASP.NET developer who's just starting to use Telerik ASP.NET AJAX controls, and I just wanted to say that these training videos are extremely helpful.

I'd love to see more videos added. Keep up the good work and you'll have a customer for the long haul.

The biggest issue I have is the default sort order. What is it exactly? Why isn't it the last post date in descending order? It makes much more sense to see the latest posts/responses first, doesn't it?

Thanks.

Marc.

We are looking for a part time developer to assist us in re-writing one of our primary software products.

I don't have an exact count, but there are probably close to 100 user controls (single screens or tabs).    We are planning on approx 20 hours/week, with an expected duration of about 3 months.

We are using TFS 2008 for source control, and are pretty good on staying current with the releases of the RAD control suite.  ASP.NET / VB.NET is the language being used.

If you are interested, please send me a brief summary about your experience level with the Telerik suite, salary requirements, and the types of projects that you have worked on.  We expect to get this effort under way by December 1, 2008.

Thanks

Do-it-yourself Forums - with RadGrid, RadTreeView, and RadEditor

Telerik Webcast Series

Most of you have probably built an application that needs a Forums module. So why not build your own custom forums solution? In under 60 minutes.

Impossible? Not at all thanks to Telerik’s powerful ASP.NET RadGrid, RadTreeView, and RadEditor controls.

In this Webcast, Todd Anglin, the Chief Technical Evangelist at Telerik, prepares a simple SQL Express database and data access layer that will be used to work with forum data. Then he uses the RadGrid and RadTreeView controls and quickly build the forum’s UI. RadEditor, Telerik’s award winning HTML editor for the web, is also used to enter new posts in the forum. On top of it all, the forums application is Ajaxified with ASP.NET AJAX to make it extra quick and responsive.

Who is Todd?
Todd Anglin is the Chief Technical Evangelist at Telerik. His mission is to build a strong Telerik developer community and to help Telerik build the best set of tools available for .NET developers. Review his personal blog here: http://telerikwatch.com/
