Good day, I am designing a 4 x 6 Label for a Thermal label printer. I have a problem however trying to print this label via the label printer. All the fields get Top left aligned in the print preview. The focus Area for the printer is in the center. How do I get my report centered so that it will fit properly on to the label?

Hi Quinten,

I am currently using the MUNBYN label printer and I would suggest you to check your printer settings. I am not sure if your printer company is providing the support for this issue or maybe you could find the solution for this specific issue in troubleshooting section in the user manual. However if you are experiencing this issue more often then you should check with the printer software or consider changing your printer.

Hello Quinten,

Indeed, by design, all the items start to print from the top left corner in order to use the whole available area of the paper. You may control the PaperKind and PaperSize properties of the Report PageSettings to specify what paper you will use for printing. You may also use Margins to control the whitespace at the edges.

I think the position where the printer starts printing on the paper is a setting of the printer that we cannot control.

Hi Todor,

Thank you for your response. I have played around with the settings with regards to paper kind and margins but the results print exactly the same each time.It is if those settings does not take affect. The report is designed in the Stand Alone report Designer then from there I extract the XML files using 7Zip and update my database with the updated XML. I then run the application and Generate the report but each time my results vary. Is there a more efficient way to deploy the changes to my application?

Hi Quinten,

You may save the reports from the Standalone Designer in TRDX, which is an XML format, and skip the unzipping. You may also save the TRDP as a byte[] to avoid unzipping.

I am not sure about the exact scenario, but if it is not possible to adjust the paper from the printer side, you may try to set the margins or padding of the report sections. This way you may introduce whitespace on the report edges and simulate re-positioning with respect to the printer.
