Well, I'm getting all sorts of errors with all the different Telerik Control Suites.  (See previous post issued just a few minutes ago).  Obviously, there is something amiss in my dev environment.  Kind of surprising, however, since this is a brand new virtual machine running:

XP Pro SP3 (all Windows Updates applied)

VS2008 SP1

SQL2008

All the latest 2008 Q2 Telerik control suites (just installed).  No errors/warnings were received during install.

No other software is installed on this machine, e.g., not even AV, etc.

I have opened another Windows Form project that does not use the Telerik controls, and it opens and runs fine.

The RadControls for ASPNET AJAX Q2 2008 Live Examples seem to run just fine too.

HOWEVER:

____________________________

When I run the RadControls for WPF Q2 2008 Demo Application, I get the ugly Windows bomb window:

Telerik.Windows.Examples has encountered a problem and needs to close.  We are sorry for the inconvenience....blablabla....the same generic tombstone non-information is shown.

------------------------------

When I try to run the "Telerik Reporting Q2 2008 Demo Application" and select a report to run, I get:

Server Error in '/Telerik/Reporting_Q2_2008_SP1' Application.

Parameter is not valid.

Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.

Exception Details: System.ArgumentException: Parameter is not valid.

Hello Larry,

We apologize for the caused inconvenience.

About the WPF Demo problem - there is a known issue with our QSF demo application for WPF controls. It relies on the presence of SQL Express. It takes the demo data from there. The error (appearing at startup) usually indicates that there was a problem connecting to the database. Usually our clients get that error on machines with SQL Express not installed or misconfigured.
We have already started thinking of a solution to  that problem for the future releases which may include removal of the SQL Express dependency and replacing it with XML datasources.

As for the reported issue - I talked to the guys from our reporting team. They kindly ask you to open a separate support ticket under the Telerik Reporting category. Please include a stack trace if possible. This will be of great help to them to give you further assistance.

Sincerely yours,
Pavel Pavlov
