I just installed the test studio carefully following all instructions. Then I tried to do the 'first test' example video and step-by-step textual instructions. However, after creating a new project in VS2010 Premium using default names as in the examples, I right click on the test project, select 'Add' then 'New Test', select 'Web Test', 'Ok' to finish off the process. Up pops the Telerik activation window, which I had already done previously, I select the 'Trial' radio button and the 'Trial' button at the bottom. A few moments later I get an error dialog that says:
"Visual Studio could not open the file "c:\users\blah\blah" because the file contains tests. A test can be opened only within a test project. Add the file to a test project, add the test project to the open solution, and then try again."

Seems a worthless suggestion since I created a new test project originally as part of the instructions, or did I miss something? I have tried all so the above multiple times, even following the video example of deleting the test file before adding a new test.

Of course, when you ask the stock person in the grocery store where the marinated artichoke hearts are, the're right behind you. I just opened the last project that failed me as per the last post and there is the .tstest file and when I open it I could proceed to record as expected. But it won't work to have an erroneous error flash up for each new test, have to close the solution and reopen...

So what am I missing?

Lee,

What exactly did you select as project type when you created the new project in Visual Studio?

Did you select one of the following?

Visual Basic > Test > Telerik Test Studio Project
Visual C# > Test > Telerik Test Studio Project
Telerik > Test > Visual Basic Test Studio Project
Telerik > Test > Visual C# Test Studio Project

I tried Test Projects > Test Documents > Test project, as one of the demos suggests
I tried several others that I can't remember now, but see that there is a possibility that I have mis-chosen a C# test and not a Telerik test. I will investigate more tomorrow. This may be one of my problems, admittedly, and thanks for the extra pair of eyes...

But the first one should have worked I believe.

Hi Lee,

Selecting a C# test project should work just fine, take a look at this quick screencast I created for you.

Let us know how it goes.

Okay, I followed the screencast perfectly and got the same bad result. I have attached a screen capture of the popup.

Hi Lee,

I'd like to have a GoToMeeting with you to quickly resolve your issue. I am in US Central Time Zone (UTC-6). I am available today from 3:30pm to 5:00pm. If that is inconvenient then I can schedule something for tomorrow or Friday.

Best wishes,
Anthony

Sounds good, but let's do it tomorrow. I'm in Oregon (Pacific) and ready to head out in a bit.

I managed to get it to record from the app, but when I save it I get this in the log:

c:\Users\Mlee43\Documents\Test Studio Projects\TestProject1\WebTest.tstest.cs: Line 1: (CS0234) The type or namespace name 'WebAii' does not exist in the namespace 'Telerik' (are you missing an assembly reference?)
c:\Users\Mlee43\Documents\Test Studio Projects\TestProject1\WebTest.tstest.cs: Line 2: (CS0234) The type or namespace name 'WebAii' does not exist in the namespace 'Telerik' (are you missing an assembly reference?)
c:\Users\Mlee43\Documents\Test Studio Projects\TestProject1\Pages.g.cs: Line 92: (CS0234) The type or namespace name 'WebAii' does not exist in the namespace 'Telerik' (are you missing an assembly reference?)

 More raised eyebrows.

I'll login in the morning.
