A RadForm based application will crash (unhandled exception) if any accent key ( ^ , ยด , ` ) is pressed.

You can easily reproduce this with the telerik WinForms demos:
* Run the Telerikt Examples demo application
* Then open for example
  * Integration -> Themes Color Blending
  * Integration -> File Explorer and focus the grid on the right but don't enter edit mode
  * Forms & Dialogs -> RadForm First Look
  * or GridView -> Hierarchy and focus any grid but don't enter edit mode
* hit any accent key (e.g. ^)

The application will in best case show an "Unhandled exception" dialog - or crash completely like the RadForms First Look.

For us this is a critical bug as we develop a crucial inhouse system - and the users often need accent keys (for typing french names for example). But they earn crashes all the way...

Hi renemt,

We cannot reproduce this issue in the latest version -- we saw that you are not using the latest one. Please give it a go.

Feel free to ask additional questions.

Hi back,

we (our registered developer) uses RadControls for WinForms, Version 2009.3 1023. In the download area I found no newer version.

Are you sure you can't reproduce the issue - or maybe you lack only the accent keys on your keyboard? ;)

Right - I forgot to say that the problem occurs on German language Windows (Server 2003, Server 2008, Vista, XP) machines.

Hi renemt,

We reproduced the issue with the German keyboard. The issue will be resolved in some of our next versions. We gave you points for the issue report.

Hi telerik,

may I ask you when you plan to fix this issue - because as mentioned above it is crucial for our users to be able type accents without getting application crashes all the time.

What comes up to me in this context: Are the telerik controls so unused in french speaking countries? Beacause actually this error might occur there constantly, doesn't it?

Thomas

Hi Thomas,

Thanks for writing and for your question. This issue will be fixed in the upcoming Q1 2010 release of RadControls for WinForms. You can write back anytime if you have further questions.
