I have a Xamarin.Forms app using Telerik 2018.1 deployed to my Samsung Galaxy S7 (Android 7, API 24). When I use the MaskedInput control with a mask of (999) 999-9999 the app will crash if I attempt to use the paste function of the keyboard or enter a character after the mask is populated. In addition when trying to enter text in an empty mask it will skip characters and not populate correctly. I am getting results like this (2_1) ___ - 3_45.  It works fine in the Android emulator (Android 7.1, API 25). As it stands the MaskedInput control is completely useless.

Discovered that the issues I am having is related to the my use of the SwiftKey keyboard. When I uninstalled SwiftKey the MaskedInput control started working fine. SwiftKey has over 100MM installs so I think MaskedInput should work with it and with other Keyboard apps.

Hello, Tom,

Thank you for reporting the issue. I have managed to reproduce it and actually pasting in the MaskedInput control results in exception is some cases even when you are not using the SwiftKey keyboard. We are currently investigating the different behaviors. I will update the thread once we have more information on the matter.

Have a great week.

Hello, Tom,

I have logged both behaviors as bug reports at our end:

MaskedInput: [Android]Pasting a value in the mask results in IndexOutOfRangeException
MaskedInput: [Android]Using the SwiftKey add-on to type results in inconsistent behavior

Basically, the first bug report is with very high priority at our end as it can be reproduced without any 3rd party software. As for the issue with SwiftKey, indeed it is a very commonly used add-on so we will make sure to investigate the behavior at some point as well. However, its priority is not that high at the moment. I have added some points to your account for reporting the behaviors. Please follow the items in order to receive notifications when there are any updates.

Have a great rest of the week.
