I found the test\sample apps slow on the android emulator, this thread

...seems to imply that they are also so on ACTUAL devices?

Hi Steve,
I guess by slow you mean the load time of the application in android, but not its behavior once started.
Indeed, we are aware of that and we are working on improving it. To my regret we were not able to polish the Android API Level 21 startup time improvement for the Beta release. It took place two days ago and will be available with the next release.
Just wanted to use the opportunity and assure you guys, that performance is one of the most important features we work on and we are constantly monitoring.
