Hi Juan,

The Telerik Platform is a modular platform for cross-platform mobile app development that integrates a rich set of UI tools with powerful cloud services. AppBuilder is the integrated cloud environment for development available as part of Telerik Platform.

In AppBuilder you can develop hybrid and native apps (read more) and in both cases it is up to you to decide how to consume data in the project. You can absolutely set up a Node.JS server to provide data to the application and during the development process you can consume that data from your local machine. Once, the development is over, however, when you publish the apps to an application store you would need to make sure the data endpoint are visible to the app from any device outside your network.
